For the past few years I have been reading about people who had made big life changes; leaving careers, becoming minimalists, moving into tiny houses, or traveling at length. It seemed to me, that a lot of people were already taking risks, eliminating possessions, and traveling the world.

When the time came that we could actually be those people, there was no question this was the opportunity we were ready to take. I've said before how I have always been prone to fear and anxiety. But when I've used that as a motivator to press on, instead of retreating and staying in my comfort zones, that's where my growth, and confidence happens. Strangely-and-gladly enough, I have been feeling calm for a while now. I think I'm finally learning that you do the best you can, and things always work out somehow. (hello. late bloomer, I know)

So now when I talk with people and share about what we are doing, they are often surprised and interested. Which then surprises me, because maybe my perspective is that many people already do this, or maybe I have slowly gotten used to our nomadic ways. However; it's nice to be reminded when people see what we are doing as special and brave.

As George posted before, the way we travel is not glamorous but it is efficient. Traveling with one carry-on bag and a very limited wardrobe is working out fine. If anything, I continue to figure out if I can find ways to make my bag lighter. We'll have to see if I can make that happen. I learned that I really don't need many clothes, and it's easy enough to hand wash items along the way between laundry facilities.

We don't have a long-term plan either, sometimes we stay a night or two somewhere, and other times we schedule a week or two stay to have a home base for a while. There are still big question marks all the time. The only thing we know for sure is we have a house in Mérida to return to in the Fall. Of course we will furnish this house & casita with the necessary amenities, but I like the idea of entering this house as somewhat of a minimalist.

Once in awhile we do individual things for a couple of reasons. One is we each take a separate tour or excursion to cut cost on admission and, together, cover more ground. Then when we meet up again, we each have new adventures to share. Another is for necessary time apart. We make the most this time, but I also realize that I like to share experiences with George more often than not.

I'm sure I have said this before, but one of my favorite parts of this season of travel is visiting friends and family we don't get to see often and staying in touch with those closest to us regularly. Plus we are always meeting cool, new people along the way. This is what adds such value to my experiences and memories! Thank you!
